Following Her Dreams...

Five years ago, Rose came to Courage House as a teenager with a 2-year-old son. She had dropped out of school and was living in a big city trapped in the life of modern slavery.

A community member from the church referred Rose to Courage House and she came to us after years of struggling.

Amongst ups and downs, Rose walked away from the Courage House program. This recidivism is normal with the nature of the girls and young women we work with because of the extensive trauma they face and confront in their healing journey. We are deeply invested in each of their lives and are committed to seeing their restoration and transformation, so it is not easy to see any girl choose to leave all we offer at Courage House.

Yet, there is grace. Rose returned with a humble heart and was ready to fully commit to changing her life, and she did. During her time outside of Courage House, a local pastor took her in and mentored her. The community plays such a big part in the transformations happening at Courage House and we are grateful to partner together to see these lives renewed and restored. Completing secondary school to the best of her ability, Rose entered beauty school and learned many skills that would allow her to style hair and provide both beauty and skincare services, all in hopes she will have her own salon one day. With a warm smile and contagious laugh, Rose makes you feel at home in her company. Under her care, the hours spent braiding and styling hair, or applying makeup for a special event, pass with ease.

It is Rose’s dream to have her own hair salon, and she is currently able to save money by working at Courage Café. She is officially a graduate of the Courage House program and is living independently, able to support herself and her son, and is making steps every day to follow her dreams.

It is incredibly inspiring to celebrate these young women who have overcome things we cannot even begin to imagine; to see them thrive and follow their dreams, when at many times in their life they had none.

For all of the young girls at Courage House, this is an example of what is possible. She can dream big and those dreams can become a reality with hard work, resilience, and courage. Your support—whether financial, prayers, or sharing with a friend—enables these transformations. Your impact cannot be fully measured because it is changing lives and changing generations. The trajectory of Rose’s life and her son’s life are forever changed. Do you want to join us in making an impact in the lives of the girls and young women at Courage House?
