Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Courage Worldwide is proud to announce it has been awarded a significant grant from the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking. This grant is part of a larger initiative by the United Nations Office on Drugs
and Crime (UNODC) to support 29 select projects across 16 countries, all dedicated to providing critical assistance to victims of human trafficking.
This grant underscores the urgent global need to combat human trafficking and the pivotal role Courage Worldwide plays in this fight. The funding will be instrumental in expanding Courage Worldwide's efforts to provide safe houses and critical resources to victims of human trafficking in their Courage House location in Tanzania, Africa, offering them hope and a path to a brighter future.
The grant was awarded to Courage Worldwide because of the organization’s holistic approach that is aimed at helping women and children, so often the targets of abuse. At Courage House locations they receive the medical, psychological, and educational support necessary for their recovery and reintegration into society.
“We are honored and deeply grateful to the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking for this generous grant,” said Jenny Williamson, Founder and CEO of Courage Worldwide. “This funding will enable us to enhance our comprehensive care programs in Tanzania, providing additional safe housing for young girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking, while offering them counseling, education, and vocational training.”
“Sex trafficking is a grave violation of human rights, and the trauma experienced by victims is
profound,” said East Africa Regional Director of Courage Worldwide, Stephanie Midthun. “This grant empowers us to extend our reach and deepen our impact, ultimately transforming more lives and helping to break the cycle of exploitation.”
The UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking, managed by UNODC, is a vital resource in the global effort to support victims. The Fund’s recent allocation will aid
organizations worldwide in providing essential services and support to those most in need.
