At Courage Worldwide, we believe true transformation and growth come from listening to those who have lived through the very experiences we seek to address. This is why we are proud to announce the creation of our Lived Experience Advisory Board, a powerful initiative led by two former residents of Courage House Northern California and a mirror to a similar Advisory Board in Tanzania led by former residents of our programs in Moshi.
The voices of survivors are at the heart of everything we do. Their insights are invaluable in shaping not only our programs but also how we serve future residents of Courage House. These young women have been through unimaginable hardships, and now, as leaders in their own right, they are stepping forward to advise us on key aspects of program design and implementation. By placing survivors in positions of leadership, we ensure their wisdom and experiences guide us in making thoughtful and informed decisions that best serve those who need it most.
The formation of the Lived Experience Advisory Board opens up countless opportunities for growth, innovation, and collaboration. By having survivor leaders more directly contribute to refining our services (and, we hope, the programs of external organizations as well in the future), we can address needs more effectively, be more responsive to trauma, and remain agile as the field of anti-trafficking continues to evolve. This Board not only offers valuable recommendations on policy and care but also provides the chance for former residents to heal through leadership and advocacy, helping break the cycle of trauma for future generations.
The potential impact of this Advisory Board is immense. By centering survivor voices, we
strengthen our commitment to holistic, survivor-driven care and increase our ability to make a real and lasting difference. As we continue to develop this initiative, we look forward to the incredible possibilities that lie ahead. Together, we can create a future where survivors are not only empowered to rebuild their lives but also to help shape the path forward for others.
We're excited to witness the growth, wisdom, and strength these survivor leaders will bring, as their unique perspectives continue to inspire and transform the work we do. Stay tuned for updates as the Lived Experience Advisory Board continues to grow and lead with courage.
