Virtual Triathlon Frequently Asked Questions
Why are you adding a virtual component to the event?
With the state guidelines on gatherings and re-openings due to the coronavirus, we are not positive that we will be able to have the event on site this year. A decision will be made by July 1st. The virtual component became an exciting alternative allowing people from all over the world an opportunity to “run – so she doesn’t have to”. Our theme for this year’s race is unity. This event will allow people to come together as one saying “it is wrong for a child to be sold for sex”. The virtual race will also give our amazing volunteers an opportunity to participate! Our goal is to be back together in 2021!
What is a virtual race?
A virtual event is just like our traditional event but you do it wherever you are. You pick your start time and go! Our triathlon has been a run, bike ride and kayak race on site at one place. For the virtual 2.8 mile (4.5 km) run you can do it outside or inside. You can run, walk, hike or skip it! You can even do it on a treadmill. The same for the 7.1-mile (11.4 km) bike portion. You can ride on the street or a trail or inside on a stationary bike. For the water portion – you pick. Swim laps in a pool or in a lake for 1-mile (1.6 km) or you can kayak or paddle board for 4.1 (6.6 km) miles. You choose. You could do the entire race inside your gym! Wherever you want, whenever you want; alone or with whomever you want!
What if I don’t have access to a bike or water?
You have a couple of options. You can form a team with 2 other people and each person take an event. (There are team prices listed below.) You can also just pick one portion of the event and do that! With the event being virtual you get to customize and choose. The goal is to have people from all over the world participating in this event on the same day – August 29th – using their voices to say “it is wrong for a child to be sold for sex”!
Do I have to complete the race all at once or can I split it up?
This is your race; your choice. Set a goal that works for you and your fitness level. However, we want everyone participating on the same day Saturday, August 29th between 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. PST
Do I need to submit my race time?
No. Since the “race” is on an honor system and there is not a designated course, we will not offer prizes for finishing times as there are so many variables. Therefore, you don’t need to submit your race time. However, we want to make this a fun and competitive event, so we’ll recognize individuals and groups for the following:
- The Largest Group. (Must have photo of all participants that raced together – kids and dogs count.) (Wearing your cool CWW race gear)
- The Individual Who Raised the Most Money.
- Best Team Name.
- Youngest Participant.
- Oldest Participant.
- Most family members participating together. (Must have photo all participants that raced together – kids and dogs count.) (Wearing your awesome
- CWW race shirt)
- Best costumes. (Must submit photos.)
What is the cost of the virtual event and do you offer group discounts?
For the actual, physical race the cost if $110 per person for all 3 events. However, for the virtual race the cost is much lower at $85. Since this is our first year we are offering an early bird registration special of $65 until July 20th. After that the cost will be $85. If you have 10 or more in your group, the cost is $55 per person through July 20th and after that $65. Team cost is $195.
