Packet Pick-up and Race Day Instructions
Please note: Per our agreement with PG&E, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DROP OFF YOUR OWN KAYAK/PADDLEBOARD ON THE EVENING BEFORE OR THE MORNING OF THE EVENT unless you have paid for and are staying at the Rocky Point Campground (Station 3). Public is no longer allowed into Station 3 (please see our map) due to traffic congestion, overcrowding and safety concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Friday, Aug 23rd:
If possible, please attend our packet pick-up from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Plumas Pines Resort (Station 1 on the map) at 3000 Almanor Dr West, Canyondam. Bibs and bike/kayak number tags will be included in the packets and must be attached to bikes and kayaks prior to the start of the event. Participants are also encouraged to decorate or mark their kayaks in a way it can easily be identified to avoid confusion during the bike to kayak transition. You will be instructed where to drop off your kayak after picking up your packet. Make sure you attach the identifying numbers onto the vessel prior to dropping it off with our volunteers. Kayaks will be placed on the shore of the Rocky Point South Group Campground (Station 3) ONLY BY OUR CREW of VOLUNTEERS. We do have a team of “dedicated kayak guardians” staying in the campground overnight on the shore where the kayaks are placed.
Saturday, Aug 24th:
Packet pick-up begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Plumas Pines, Station 1. Your first priority will be to pick up your packet and attach the race/identifying numbers to your equipment. If you picked up your packet the night before and attached your numbers to your equipment, drop off your bike at Station 2. If you didn’t already drop off your kayak, please do so at Station 2 where you see our trailers. Check in at Station 1 prior to starting the race if you have not received your timing chip.
A shuttle will provide access to Station 3 for team members. Although we can’t allow spectators at Station 3, we will try to accommodate as best we can to shuttle family members into the area to watch their loved ones. Be aware that we will have many photographers along the course taking pictures which we post to our facebook page. (Unlike other sport events, we won’t be making you pay for your pictures!)
Our dedicated group of volunteers will be transporting your bikes to Station 1 from Station 3 after you have made the bike/kayak transition. If you do not want us to handle your bike, please let us know at
packet pickup.
