So, where are we on Courage Home India? Yesterday afternoon we got a call from our co-director, “We have a property!”
Cautious, while trying to sound optimistic and encouraging (but very doubtful inside), “Oh, tell me about it.”
It’s a property that looks (think of little girl’s dreams for their life) like a castle. It’s HUGE – almost too big, but it’s so under our budget we can’t possibly turn it down. We could potentially have both a short-term and long-term home there in the future; it’s that big. We talked with the landlord today; she’s a widow, she works for an NGO teaching children, she’s a psychologist and has worked with women in Britain, and she has offered us a three year lease. Our director has been saying for the past month that we really need to be looking for the right landlord who understands our work, rather than simply looking for the right property. He was right. They found the right landlord with the right property. It looks like we’ll take full possession May 1, after she has time to move, to make some security adjustments to the property, and get the lease papers together. I will really breath a huge sigh of relief when those papers are signed and money has changed hands, but for now we REJOICE!
