Genny Heikka
Director of Communications at Courage Worldwide
Passionate about using her voice for children who have been victims of sex trafficking, Genny joined Courage Worldwide three years ago after having her heart broken over the issue when she wrote an article about it. She immediately knew she wanted to help, and began volunteering with writing and editing needs at the organization before transitioning into her current role.
With over ten years of experience in writing, publishing, and communications, Genny is the author of seven children’s books and has had work published in three anthologies. Her articles are published regularly in a variety of magazines and websites and she reviews books for the San Francisco Book Review. Her blog was listed at Blogs.com as one of the Top 10 blogs for moms and was named Blog of the Week by the Sacramento Bee.
Before beginning her writing career, Genny earned her MBA and worked at Hewlett-Packard as the Americas Program Support Manager. She is grateful to be able to apply her love of writing and communications, her corporate management experience, and her passion for parenting in her role as Communications Director at Courage Worldwide. She lives in California with her husband and their two children, and continues to write about the issue of sex trafficking in an effort to give victims a voice. Her greatest desire is to see more children rescued and completely restored.
