What are your goals and dreams?
When girls first come to Courage House, we ask them “What are your dreams?” and we start by making a Unique Life Plan for each one. Our goal at Courage House is to empower young women who have been trafficked and to help them overcome the obstacles that hinder them from following their dreams. They gain hope as they turn their focus from the past to their promising future.
Teacher, author, musician, judge, accountant, journalist, pilot – just a few of the big dreams of Courage House girls.
This week we are featuring one of the Courage girls who is following her dreams, currently studying law in university!
At her high school graduation, “Tracy” delivered an incredibly inspiring speech about dedicating her life to fighting for the rights of women and girls in Tanzania. There were many teary eyes and inspired hearts in this audience! She found hope, freedom and confidence, and now wants to help other girls in her own community do the same.
Tracy just completed her first year of studying law at a very respected university, and has the goal of becoming a lawyer! She got the opportunity to be mentored by a strong female lawyer here in Moshi, who is on the Advisory Board of Courage House Tanzania. She was able to attend an intense trial and see her mentor in action. It has been a very inspiring experience for her!
Over the past year, Tracy has transformed into an independent and courageous young woman! She completed her first year of college, gained sewing skills, elevated her English and computer knowledge, and found radiant inner confidence. We are so proud of her!
Our most recent expansion of Courage House Tanzania is the creation of a second campus called Courage House Too, a transitional home and program for the girls who reach 18-years-old at our minor home. At Courage House Too, the girls have a safe place to live and progress to independent adult life. They receive vocational training in sewing, cookery, computers, English and leadership. The girls’ children can live with them here at Courage House Too, where all of their needs are met and they can save for their future.
Courage House financially supports the girls as they transition to adulthood, whether that is through their vocational training, college or university, or the creation of a small business. Our goal is to see Courage House girls succeed in following their dreams and become independent young women.
We are so proud of the girls who are courageously making their dreams a reality!
